She moves effortlessly from setting to setting, always managing to find excitement and adventure. She has written books inspired by her childhood in Zibabwe, based on her experiences walking rooftops, and set in the Amazon. Part of Rundell’s great charm is that her imagination seems limitless. Fans of Rundell will eagerly grab a copy of her latest work, but fans of middle-grade will also find plenty to enjoy here as Rundell takes them on a wildly improbably adventure to reclaim a family fortune. Set in 1920s New York City, The Good Thieves evokes wonder, decadence, and greed as it showcases the Big Apple through the eyes of a young girl newly arrived from England. She consistently writes atmospheric books with beautiful prose The Good Thieves is no exception. Katherine Rundell is one of my favorite living writers.
