Melantho is painted to be either moody or horny, she has so much interesting things to talk about but you don’t really hear anything.A fantasy romance, by dazzling new talent Sarah Underwood, inspired by Greek mythology and the tale of Penelope’s twelve hanged maids. There is no real explanation of why she falls for Mathias besides he is pretty and not a complete asshole? Don’t even get me started on how useless Mathias is throughout the whole book. I hate that Leto can just flip flop between the two without any real consequences.

There is a lot of time when I wish they would move in to more exciting parts or to skip the cringe dialogue. The girls whine and poor Mathias is stupid till the end. Now the bad, the characters are all weak. The concept of this 12 Maidens curse is very interesting and I wish there was more to it. There is a lot of wiggle room and creativity with that space and I think the author tried her best to fill it. I liked that we have multiple years apart from this great myth that almost everyone knows. The whole thing was odd but I will lead with what I liked.
